Superintendent's Corner

by Randy Butcher

October 04, 2005

We have taken steps towards becoming a stronger school system. I have listed some areas that we are working toward. This may be all inclusive but these will be areas that we will be able to show progress and results. As we work toward improving in the following areas we will see results in student growth. We are looking at staff development for teachers as a process to help students improve. We are going to use data driven decision making to make decisions on improvement. We are improving our communication with the community. We will be sharing a staff member with Bayard Schools and have hired a Special Ed. Coordinator. We are developing team processes that will help our staff become learning communities. We have developed a School Web-Site to share information and improve communication. We will be improving our technology skills to send e-mail, do research, create power point presentations, enhance skills, receive training, and communicate with everyone through a Web-Site. We are supporting all activities with teachers and administrators supervising, sponsoring and attending sports, music, speech and any activity that may develop skills and teach students through competition, rules, and teamwork. We will measure success through professional growth and student growth. All staff will continue to work with students at-risk and all staff will be working toward helping all students. We will be looking for options that will create a success ratio for students. We will continue to express our expectations and reward students for positive behavior. We will continue to reinforce positive behavior and reinforce consequences for negative behavior as a learning process to build character and develop personal, social, emotional, and cognitive skills. Our purpose will be that every student be an important part of our community and every staff member will reinforce the student's responsibility by following policy, statute, and expectations along with providing support to help the student develop these skills.
