The Bridgeport High School One-Act team headed down I-80 with complete enthusiasm as they headed towards the Nebraska State One-Acts Competition in Kearney.
To prepare for the exciting day ahead of them the cast and crew spent some time on looking good to impress people in the mall and in Red Lobster. While the cast and crew looked good they made sure that Mrs. Dohse and Ms. Retzlaff did not! At districts the coaches made the mistake of trying to make the team strive and take first place and made a bet that "If we got first place and went to state, then they would do their hair and make up like Ashleigh Deines' Madame Sofronie had to do hers for the play."
So with an exciting night and "lots" of rest the team was prepared and super psyched to perform at STATE!
The cast and crew were to compete against six experienced teams. Although the Bridgeport audience was amazed at how well the cast and crew performed, the team walked away with a a sixth place finish.
Team places were:
1st - David City "Finding Pan"
2nd - Lauren-Concord "Romeo You Idiot"
3rd - Norfolk Central Catholic "The Wall"
4th - Fillmore Central "The Suessification of Romeo and Juliet"
5th - Ord "The Einstein Project"
6th - Bridgeport "The Gift of the Magi"
7th Doniphan-Trumball "A Balcony Scene"
Congratulations to the One-Act team for going to state and performing well.
