The Bridgeport Boys Basketball team traveled to WNCC's Cougar Palace in Scottsbluff to take part once again in the Western Trails Conference Tournament.  On Friday night, Bridgeport defeated the Bayard Tigers 54-42.  Leading the Bulldogs was senior Patrick L.  with 15 points, 12 rebounds, four steals and eight assists.  A pair of Patrick's 3-pointers and a steal and lay-up by Jase D. all contributed to the 17-10 dead at the end of the first quarter.  The second quarter was a hit with Destry S. and Javier Gonzales who put up 11 points together to send the bulldogs into half time with a lead of 28-22.  The Bulldogs came out with energy and went on a 10-0 run.  Lay-ups coming from Patrick L. and 3-pointers from Tanner S. and Richard E. helped the Bulldogs dominate the 3rd quarter, which saw Bridgeport ahead 38-25.  Tanner S. helped the Bulldogs with 3 points, Richard E. 8, Jase D. 8, Javier G. 6, Jon R. 5, Destry S. 4 and Jared B. 3.

With the win of Friday night's game against Bayard the Bulldogs traveled once again to the championship on Saturday evening facing the Gordon/Rushville Mustangs.  Bridgeport lost the game 46-45.  With the help of Patrick's free throws the Bulldogs were leading 4-2 early in the first quarter, but the first quarter ended with Bridgeport down by four 5-9 and the Bulldogs knew they needed to step up their game a little.  Scoring from Patrick, Richard and Javier helped the Bulldogs stay in the game during the 3rd and 4th quarters.  A 3-pointer from Richard go the Bulldogs within four points towards the end of the fourth quarter.  With the Mustangs knowing that they needed to foul, they sent a player to the line with just seconds remaining in the game.  Milling both free throws, it gave the Mustangs a chance to come back.  The Mustangs got the rebound and scored with just 26 seconds left on the clock to put the Mustangs up by one.
