Girls basketball teams suffer loss in regular season finale

The Bulldogs took a hard 35-40 loss on Friday night to Gordon/Rushville. Bridgeport earned a 5-0 lead within the first three minutes before the Mustangs fought back to take the lead after the first quarter ended. To begin the second quarter Courtney L made a basket as Bridgeport took a 9-8 lead on Gordon. Gordon led at the half by two. In the middle of the third quarter Natalie H put in two for the Bulldogs to tie the game at 19-19. Down by one at the beginning of the final quarter Ashley V was fouled on the shot to make the game tied yet again. Laux made the last Bulldog basket of the night with 1:55 left on the clock. Laux led the team in scoring with 10 points, followed by Simonne S with 7 points, Hadden with 6, Vergil and Molly S with 4 each, Charlee W with 3, and Renae J with 1.
The JV didn’t have much luck on Friday either taking a 37-62 loss. Simonne S led the scoring column for Bridgeport with 16 points. Behind her were Molly S and Manda S who both had 6. Emily P had 4 points, Nicole H had 3, and Marissa S had 2.
