Dean becomes a Husker

By Ti W

February 13, 2008

Big dreams are becoming a reality for Bulldog Senior Jase Dean. There has been a single image in his mind and heart ever since he can remember of himself wearing the red and white jersey and running onto the turf of Memorial Stadium, and through all the hard work he has put in over the years, he has made this possible for himself as he will be walking on to play for the Huskers this coming fall. Dean made this official last Wednesday, February 6th, when he signed on with the Huskers.

Dean had the privilege of meeting with Coach Bo Pelini and Athletic Director Tom Osborne individually, as well as several different coaches on the staff for the Huskers. Dean commented on his visit by saying, “It was really cool to be sitting next to and talking to the head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. I didn’t ever think I would ever be lucky enough to be in that situation. Everyone was really nice to me, and I’m very excited to play for them.” Dean talked to Secondary Coach Marvin Sanders about playing free safety for the Huskers. Dean was pleased with this idea because he enjoys the defensive side of the ball the best.

“It’s a great opportunity and I know I’ll have to work hard. It’s just an honor to be able to represent my community and this part of the state down there.” “It’s an adrenaline rush just thinking about going down there and competing with other great athletes. I’m excited to get down there and be a part of the strength and conditioning work outs.
