100th Day Celebration

by Web Development

February 04, 2010

On Thursday, January 28th, Bridgeport Public Schools celebrated its 100th day of school.  This was an extra special day, because it also featured the 100th graduating class of Bridgeport.  There were special activities for the day, starting out with a few contests in the gym.  The elementary school competed against the junior high/high school in a free throw contest.  Students and staff members represented both schools with the junior high/high school coming out on top by a small margin.  The winner received ice cream that will be provided at a later date.  Mr. Staples, the high school principal, invited the elementary students to also get ice cream as well.  The next "contest" was a 3-point contest between staff who have graduated from Bridgeport and the current seniors.  As you can guess, it was the Class of 2010 who won this contest!

Later that day, the K-3rd grade students had displays of 100 items that students brought from home, estimation stations--where students guessed how many of each item are in the jars, and finally, Penny the Pig (the school's piggy bank) had all her pennies counted by Wells Fargo Bank members and the bank matched the funds that were in the piggy bank.  The students put in $100 worth of pennies and the bank donated $100 of funds so the students earned $200!  Way to go!!!
