Bridgeport Public Schools
Office of the Superintendent
Dave Miller, Superintendent
I hope all of you have had a great summer and have been rejuvenated for the 2009-2010 school year. My family and I are excited about our new location in Bridgeport and hope to meet several new friends. We have relocated from Damar, Kansas, which has a population of 150. I am sure all of you know about the many changes that we have had this summer, but just in case someone has been out of the country for the past couple of months, allow me to introduce you to the many new faces in the district.
First of all, I will be serving the district as superintendent of schools. My wife Julie and daughters Tatum, Macie and Emilie have been welcomed over the last month and a half and we are all looking forward to many years in this district. My son, Clint, will be in and out of town, he lives with his mother in Windsor, Colorado. I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming, my Master’s from Newman University in Wichita, Kansas and my superintendent’s endorsement from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. I am attempting to become more familiar with the ins and outs of Nebraska school finance. I am sure that I will be relying on Vonnie and Gail for guidance. I am excited about the coming school year and hope that all of you are as well.
Titus Staples will be the new 7-12 principal. He comes to us from Natoma, Kansas and I was only one SMALL piece of the selection committee. I don’t want anyone thinking that this is some kind of invasion from the south. Mr. Staples spent four years in the Air Force prior to receiving both his under graduate degree and Master’s degree from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. His fiancé, Sarah, will be moving in with him after they are married on September 6th.
Zachary and Rachel Pischnotte are the new band and vocal music instructors. They are from the Freemont area and attended the University of Nebraska. I am excited to have a young couple here to teach our kids to appreciate music.
Amy Retchless and Stacey Watts will be new teachers in the elementary school. They are both originally from Bridgeport so they know more people than I do. Amy graduated from Chadron State College and will be teaching fifth grade. Stacey is also a graduate of Chadron State College and will be teaching second grade.
